CABBAGE, KIELBASA & APPLES

Ingredients Method Notes

Ingredients
  

  • 1 HEAD CABBAGE- CORED AND CHOPPED INTO QUARTERS
  • 5-10 APPLES- CORED AND CUT INTO WEDGES, SKINS ON OR OFF
  • 1 LEAN TURKEY KIELBASA

Method
 

  1. In a large Dutch Oven, place ingredients.
  2. On very low heat, start cooking until there is liquid in the bottom of the pot (so the bottom doesn't burn), or add just a bit of water if you're cooking with medium-low heat. 
  3. Optional--Add raisins or onions to your taste
  4. Once the cabbage and apples have produced liquid, turn the heat up a bit to finish cooking.
  5. Cooking Time:  One and a half to 2- or 3-hours 
  6. Crockpot Option--This meal could also be cooked in a crockpot on Low 10-12 hours or High 5-6 hours.
  7. Meal is done when the cabbage and apples are cooked to your liking.

We have this meal starting in the fall and all the way through the winter--Everyone in my house loves it!
